The developer behind Europa, an open-world adventure game that I’ve long praised for its lovely marriage of Ghibli visuals and Zelda gameplay, has revealed its indie inspirations, and now I’m more excited than ever.

Zelda meets Ghibli is already an incredibly easy sell, but Europa is an upcoming indie game that’s even more compelling now that we know it was inspired by genre greats like Journey, Gris, and ABZU. Europa’s official Twitter account revealed this when it participated in a recent social media trend in which small projects share the indie games they took inspiration from. When it comes to indie inspiration, it’s hard to top a lineup like this:
