Dany Mota scores two goals and Monza wins their first Serie A victory

VERONA, Italy (AP) — An inspired Dany Mota scored in each half as Monza stunned Verona 3-0 for their first Serie A victory on Monday.

The Portuguese striker opened the scoring excellently in the ninth minute and burst between two defenders to score the second in the 74th minute.

Alessandro Bianco made it 3-0 with 11 minutes remaining to help Monza move out of the relegation zone and into 16th place in the 20-team table.

Monza was the last team to win this season.

Verona scored more second-half goals than any other team except league leaders Napoli, but had no teeth in front of goal and slipped to 13th.
