Ganduje: We are shocked that the court prevented the arrest of imposters behind false suspension – APC Secretary

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has reacted after a Kano State High Court granted an exparte order restraining the police from inviting, arresting and harassing operatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) behind the alleged suspension of Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a consolidated order delivered by Justice Yusuf Ubale Muhammad on May 2, the court also restrained any attempt by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, the state council of the party and the acting national chairman of the ‘APC, to use security agents to arrest or detain the supposed leaders of Ganduje area, pending hearing and decision on the motion on notice.

Some people who presented themselves as executives of the Ganduje district had announced the suspension, which the party at all levels denied.

During the investigation, party authorities requested the Inspector General of Police to initiate an investigation into the incident.

However, a court prevented police from taking further action on the issue.

Speaking in an interview with TVC on Thursday evening, Ajibola expressed his concerns over the developing situation.

)He said: “Those who suspended the party president are not members of the ward level executive committee. They are intrusive intruders. The intruders have no authority to level allegations against Ganduje.

“And it is on this basis that a petition was sent to the Inspector General of Police for the impostors to be arrested. I therefore find it very shocking that a court would grant an interim injunction prohibiting the police from carrying out their role under the Constitution and the Police Act, which is to investigate and prosecute allegations of criminal offenses subject to the absolute power of the Attorney General to terminate such proceedings.

“I think it is high time that our judges exercise caution when granting these types of orders. To set the record straight, the party’s position is that those who claim to have suspended our national president in the first place are not on the official list of Constituency Executive Councils. We have the list of all constituency councils across the country from party congresses held in 2022.”

Asked if President Bola Tinubu could reconcile Ganduje and the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, he said: “There is no basis for reconciliation because Kwankoso is not not a member of the APC. He is NNPP.
