SALISBURY – The Rowan County Board of Commissioners will consider awarding the contract to construct the new Rowan County Health Department facilities at the Rowan Community Center, formerly called West End Plaza, to Greensboro-based Holden Building Company, who submitted the lowest bid.

Holden submitted a total bid, including possible alternatives such as drive-thru lanes and exterior improvements, of $14,842,904. The base bid without any alternatives was approximately $12 million.

Holden’s bid was the lowest total of the five companies that submitted bids, with the next lowest bid being Batson-Cook Company at approximately $15.2 million.

The Department of Health plans to move to the former Salisbury Mall to find more space for operations as it outgrows its current location on East Innes Street, which it shares with the Department of Social Services.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m. and will be held at the Rowan County Administration building at 130 W. Innes St. in Salisbury. The other agenda items that will be discussed include:

  • Commissioners will hold a legislative hearing on a zoning text change that would create a definition for towing cars with storage in the county ordinances and create the opportunity to consider it through a conditional district or special use permit process in the province. Industrial district.
  • Commissioners will consider a family subdivision waiver for a property in the 300 block of Knight Farm Road, which would allow a subdivision to be transferred to a family member who is not considered an immediate family member under zoning ordinances.
