“Silent, But Deadly” opens May 16 at Lake City High

Lake City High School’s De Wolfe Troupe will perform its final show of the season, “Silent, but Deadly,” at 7 p.m. on May 16-18 and May 24, as well as at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 25.

Not only is the production of “Silent, but Deadly” entirely student-directed, but its screenplay has also not been officially released.

Written by playwright Don Zolidis, known for his prolific work on more than 100 plays, including “The Amazing Adventures of the White Weevil” and “The AI Play,” “Silent, but Deadly” is a hilarious comedy directed by President of the ASB, Luke Sharon.

As the end of the silent film era approaches in “Silent, But Deadly,” a film crew struggles to complete their final masterpiece, “Das Vampyr: Scourge of the Night!” The lead actress, Desdemona O’Toole, drives everyone crazy, triggering multiple plots against her life. Can they finish the movie in time before someone dies?

Stage manager Emma Lund said working on “Silent, but Deadly” had been a challenge and a reward.

“Being part of a student-run production means wearing many hats and juggling various responsibilities, but seeing everything run smoothly during performances makes it all worth it,” she said in a news release Thursday. “It was a great learning experience and I had a lot of fun working on this production.”

Kai Campbell, who plays FG MacIntosh, was asked, “What was it like working with a student director?” »

“Working with a student director was definitely a different change of pace,” they said.

With a teacher as director, Campbell said it wasn’t weird to have that sense of authority.

“However, when one of your peers takes over and leads you, it is very interesting to see how they fulfill these functions,” they said. “Working specifically with Luke Sharon has been truly amazing, because even though all directors direct differently, the way he comes up with ideas and brings them to life works really well for the cast we have.

“Overall, working with Luke as a student director was a great experience and I am very happy to have had this opportunity,” Campbell said.

Sharon said directing a show was something he wanted to do since his freshman year.

“This desire came after Parker Henley, a senior at the time, directed a full-length play, ‘Clue: On Stage,’ which I had an incredible time performing in,” Sharon said. “This experience has been extremely enriching, and my actors and I would be extremely delighted if readers of The Press decided to come to our production!”

Admission is $8 general, $7 students and seniors, and $6 staff and students with ASB cards.

Lake City High is located at 6101 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene.
