Keane announces new Manchester show after Co-op Live gig canceled

Keane has announced plans to return to Manchester following the cancellation of a recent concert which was due to take place at Co-op Live.

The British rock band, who today celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut album Hopes and Fears, had planned to perform at a £365 million venue last Sunday (May 5) as part of a birthday celebration tour.

But the show was canceled after an air conditioner nozzle fell from the ceiling of the venue during a soundcheck before a performance by American rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

As bosses continued to carry out safety inspections and worked to complete the venue, the rapper’s show was canceled at the last minute before being rescheduled at the AO Arena last Saturday. Two Olivia Rodrigo performances have also been postponed while Take That’s epic five-show run this week was forced to be moved to the AO Arena.

At the time, Keane released a statement saying they were “absolutely gutted at not being able to celebrate 20 years of hopes and fears at Co-op Live”. The group said: “This is due to ongoing technical issues on site and is completely beyond our control.

“We tried hard to find a solution because we know many of you are planning your trip, but it just wasn’t possible. We are truly disappointed that this happened and are doing everything we can to reschedule the show.

It has now been announced that the band will return to the city-region with a gig at Co-op Live on October 19. They will be joined with support from The Lathums during the show. In a new statement, the band said: “We are pleased to announce that our concert at Manchester Co-op Live will be rescheduled for Saturday October 19, 2024.
