DUNBEHOLDEN will look to secure a third win of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) season when they host Chapelton Maroons at the Dunbeholden Sports Complex today at 3pm.

Dunbeholden showed grit and determination against last season’s runners-up Mount Pleasant on Wednesday when they had to come from behind to win 3-2. Dunbeholden general manager Roger Simmonds says Wednesday’s win has given them a confidence boost and they plan to build on that today.

“We are confident, and the players are confident because they are working hard on the training pitch, so we are very optimistic that we will get a positive result on Sunday,” he said. “That win gave us a morale boost and we saw improvements in that match. We believe that we will continue to improve. We know that some of our players have not yet reached their full potential as many are still out of form, but as time goes on the team will become stronger – and once we give our best, results will be on our side. ”

Dunbeholden are 11th with six points from six games, while Chapelton, having played seven games, are ninth with eight points. Simmonds acknowledged that Chapelton, who drew 1-1 with Arnett Gardens in their last meeting, have performed well in recent matches and he expects a challenging match today.

“As you can see, no team in the Premier League is weak at the moment. All teams are strong, so we are preparing for this match like any other,” he said.

“If you look at Chapelton’s last result, they could have got a positive result against Arnett Gardens. Arnett Gardens beat us in our first game of the season, so we don’t take any team for granted.

“Chapelton are playing good football and they have strength in their attacking line-up, so they are coming with all the weapons. But we are preparing to meet that challenge and ensure that we come out on the better side of victory.

Defending champion Cavalier faces struggling Tivoli Gardens at Ferdie Neita Park at 1 p.m. Cavalier, who has been in excellent form this season, recently defeated MOCA FC of the Dominican Republic 7-0 at the National Stadium on Wednesday to advance to the final of the Concacaf Caribbean Cup.

Led by Rudolph Speid, Cavalier remains the only undefeated team in the JPL and occupies fifth place with 11 points from five games. Montego Bay United top the standings with 14 points from seven games, while Tivoli are in twelfth place with five points from six games.
