Caleb Williams ‘going to be great in the locker room,’ says HC Matt Eberflus after declaring Bears’ starting QB

Caleb Williams and the Bears are a perfect match. Last month, the team managed to nab the quarterback in the NFL drafts. However, head coach Matt Eberflus had chosen not to share his thoughts on the recent addition yet. Now, after a day of rookie minicamp, the 53-year-old finally spoke about the 22-year-old former USC athlete.

Shortly after Williams was named the Bears’ starter before camp, the coach said on a podcast that the athlete was “awesome.” On a recent episode of Up & Adams, Eberflus told host Kay Adams: “He is only interested in football. You know, obviously, we all know he can spin it. He also ended up adding that it was a “exciting” trip to take with the 22-year-old. The veteran coach also added: “There are no shortcuts, there is no easy way, you have to follow the steps.”

Eberflus was also asked what surprised him about Williams. After all, he had only seen the athletic side of the athlete until now. The coach thought about it and replied: “When he’s around the guys, he’s really funny and has a really good attitude about him and he’s comfortable in his own skin, so I think he’s going to be really good in the locker room.” After all, with the 22-year-old joining the team alongside Rome’s Odunze, there is no denying that there is a sense of comfort given that they have been through the process together.

In fact, as they are teammates, their bond seems to grow a little stronger every day. Even though the media has tried to pit them against each other, it appears that neither Williams nor Odunze are willing to participate.

Since the NFL Drafts this year, Caleb Williams has been the one to watch. With analysts and scouts showing major interest in the star athlete, it’s no surprise that he’s the No. 1 overall draft pick. However, he wasn’t the only one who stood out. In fact, the Chicago Bears managed to land the top pick in the draft when they obtained wide receiver, Rome Odunze. With two incredible stars on the team, it was expected that both athletes would be equally fired up, but that wasn’t the case.

At a recent press conference ahead of rookie minicamp, Odunze was asked if he found it less stressful to “integrate” because Williams was in the spotlight. Without hesitation, the 21-year-old said: “I wouldn’t say it’s easier. I think we both come in as rookies and try to do our best to engage in the culture, in this organization and be the best teammates we can be.

Odunze also added that he thought Williams was doing a tremendous job before stating: “I’m doing my best too.” Luckily for the 21-year-old, he understands that practice makes perfect and has no intention of giving up. With the quarterback named the starter, they may need to accelerate their connection on the field.
