Rory Beggan will not be offered a contract by the Carolina Panthers

Monaghan goalkeeper Rory Beggan will not sign for the Carolina Panthers after trying out as a kicker for the club.

Beggan practiced Saturday at the NFC South franchise. However, after attempting numerous field goals and speaking to local media, he was not offered a contract.

However, the Scotstown native’s hopes of playing in the NFL this upcoming season aren’t over yet.

Beggan still has time to land a contract elsewhere. The new season begins in just under four months.

Meanwhile, it is unclear whether the Monaghan shot-stopper will be available for the opening round of the All-Ireland series. Farney’s men face Kerry on Saturday May 18th.

Elsewhere, Down’s Charlie Smith and Derry’s Jude McAtamney have signed for New Orleans Saints. Mark Jackson from Wicklow went on trial with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
