State trooper seriously injured in Colonie crash near Northway

A New York State Trooper is being treated for serious injuries at Albany Medical Center after being struck by a pickup truck near Exit 7 of the Northway in Colonie.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday while the officer was assisting in towing a vehicle, which closed two right lanes on the Northway. According to authorities, the officer and the tow truck driver were both struck by the passing truck.

While the tow truck driver suffered only minor injuries, the pickup driver was arrested. New York State Police are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 518-457-6811 or email (email protected).
