Rocksmith+ prepares to switch to PC and PlayStation

Rocksmith+ prepares to switch to PC and PlayStation

For those who don’t know, Rocksmith is Ubisoft’s music learning service. Where other music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band have gained popularity for their ability to make players feel like they’re part of a band by giving them classic rhythm mechanics on plastic instruments, Rocksmith has adopted a very different approach.

What started as a rhythm game allowing players to use real slices instead of plastic controllers quickly evolved into a service-based experience focused on guitar and piano playing in one of the best home music education programs.

The game is available for iOS, Android and PC via Ubisoft Connect. However, starting June 6, players on PlayStation platforms and PC players who primarily use Steam will be able to experience Rocksmith+.

For those who want to learn an instrument on their own, Rocksmith+ is a great way to learn fundamental skills in a fun and digestible way. The game uses original recordings from a licensed library to which new songs are added every month.

The other appeal of Rocksmith+ is that it doesn’t require players to have any special hardware to use it. Instead, all players need to do is download the Rocksmith Tuner app to use with the Rocksmith+ software.

Rocksmith Tuner will then use the player’s smart device as a mic to play the guitar or piano, using the sound to trigger various in-game interactions and reactions.

Of course, those who want a more traditional wired connection can purchase the Rocksmith Real Tone cable and plug it into an electric guitar or bass, and those who want to use a piano MIDI interface are welcome to do so.

Rocksmith+ also offers a free edition that allows players to try out a limited set of songs, lessons, and features.

But now I want to know if you are as excited as I am about the release of Rocksmith+. Let me know in the comments, and also tell me which instrument you’re most excited to learn.
