Hyderabad man throws dog off two-storey building for biting his son

HYDERABAD: A man was arrested on Saturday for killing a dog by stabbing it and throwing it from a two-storey building in Jummerath Bazar. The suspect, identified as Satyanarayanaa daily wage worker, is said to have acted out of anger after his son was bitten by a street dog.
According to police reports, the conflict started when Satyanarayana’s son fired fireworks outside. The dog, irritated by the sound of crackers, bit the boy’s hand. “On learning about this, an enraged Satyanarayana attacked the dog, leading to its death,” said a police official investigating the case.
In a video recorded by the residents, Satyanarayana brandished a stick and threatened a bystander who questioned his actions. Despite attempts by others to intervene, he defended his behavior, claiming it was in response to his child’s injury.
The boy was treated for his bite and scratch wounds and is reportedly stable. Satyanarayana lives with his wife and two sons in the building where the dog’s remains were discovered. After the incident, he disposed of the dog’s carcass in the Musi River where it was later collected by the police for post-mortem examination.
The Shainayath Gunj police have registered a case against Satyanarayana under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Mischief by killing or mutilating animals). Police officials indicated that additional charges related to the attack on bystanders could be pursued following further complaints.
