Philadelphia Police Search for Suspects After Crash in Port Richmond Leaves Driver in Critical Condition

PHILADELPHIA – A dramatic crash Friday morning in Port Richmond left one man in critical condition, and police are now searching for at least four people seen fleeing the scene. The crash, which was captured on surveillance video, occurred at the intersection of Richmond and Venango streets when a black Dodge Ram pickup truck ran a red light and collided with a white Chevrolet pickup truck.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 40-year-old AutoZone employee, was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition, police said. The impact of the accident caused both vehicles to collide with several parked cars, causing significant damage to at least five vehicles in the neighborhood.

Authorities say four young men wearing ski masks and dark clothing exited the Dodge Ram after the crash. Three of them allegedly fled in a white SUV, with a neighbor managing to record the license plate number as “SJW 5802”. Police are still investigating whether the black pickup truck involved in the accident may have been stolen.

Area residents have expressed concerns about speeding in their neighborhood, saying traffic problems have worsened over the years. “It used to be very quiet here because I’ve been here for 40 years,” said one resident. “We have a sign that says 40 kilometers per hour… they ran there.”

Philadelphia police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Accident Investigation Division as the search for the suspects continues.
