Scott Williams: The Dragons are considering giving the Welsh center a contract

Welsh center Scott Williams is training with the Dragons and head coach Dai Flanagan says they are considering giving him a deal.

Williams, 34, left the Scarlets last summer and is looking for a new club.

The Dragons are looking to replace Steff Hughes, who is leaving the Dragons at the end of October to move to the United States of America to play with Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby (MLR).

The Dragons’ current four center options are Joe Westwood, Aneurin Owen, Harry Wilson and Harri Ackerman, who is recovering from a long-term injury.

Asked if there was any chance of a contract for Williams, Flanagan replied: “Certainly he’s chewing on his teeth. His fingers are itching to scratch, and people in that situation are usually determined.”

“We’ll only have four midfielders if Steff leaves and I’ve found in the past that it can get very thin very quickly.”

“If you lose one you can lose two or three, so there could be an opportunity to see him (Williams) in a Dragons jersey one day.”
