Netflix’s Monsters Star Cooper Koch Reveals He Wants to Play This Role in American Psycho Remake

Cooper Koch is looking for new and bigger opportunities after the success of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. The Netflix crime anthology actor recently opened up about an upcoming role in the new version of the 2000 film American Psycho.

During an interview held at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on October 19, 2024, the acclaimed actor who plays Erik in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters series showed interest in playing Patrick Bateman in the aforementioned film.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 2022 horror film They/Them actor added: “Luca is doing American Psycho, so I think I can do Patrick Bateman.”

Koch also mentioned that since he didn’t get the chance to play a serial killer, “I think I could do it.”

Talking further with the outlet, Koch mentioned that since appearing as Erik on-screen in Monsters, he has been continually receiving big offers, varying in opportunities.

“Things are coming, things are moving, things are happening, having meetings and the needle is threading, so we’ll see,” the A New York Christmas star said.

He, however, also mentioned that nothing has been blocked yet.

According to Deadline, Luca Guadagnino may direct a “new adaptation” of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel, which will not be a remake. American Psycho originally starred Christian Bale as investment banker Bateman.

In the same interview, Cooper Koch also stated that Challengers is his favorite release this year.

The Guadagnino film stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist in a never-before-seen role.

Meanwhile, Koch gained appreciation from critics and viewers for his stellar performance as Erik Menendez in the Netflix series.

Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez also starred Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Lyle Menendez, Erik de Koch’s brother, along with Javier Bardem playing his father’s character José Menendez.

Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez, Erik and Lyle’s mother, was played by Chloe Sevigny. The crime anthology tells about a high-class murder case that attracted significant attention in the 1980s.

According to reports, Erik and Lyle shot their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, with 12-gauge shotguns.

It was in 1996 that the two brothers were convicted of the first-degree murder of their parents, after which they were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is the second season of the anthology, released after the success of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starring Evan Peters.

According to reports, it is Charlie Hunnman who will be seen playing a well-known serial killer, Ed Gein, in the third season of the Ryan Murphy series.
