Two dead in wrong-way driving crash on Gene Snyder near New Cut Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Two people are dead after a wrong-way crash on I-265 South on Sunday, November 3.

Louisville police said around 1:40 a.m. officers were called to the Gene Snyder, just past the New Cut Road interchange, where they found the wreckage.

An initial investigation and witness statements indicated that a man entered the freeway at Dixie Highway heading north in the southbound lanes before crashing into a woman’s car at mile marker 5.8.

LMPD said both cars were seriously damaged. First responders attempted to free the man and woman, but paramedics determined they both died at the scene in their vehicles.

Police said at this time they do not know if the wrong-way driver was impaired or not.

The southbound lanes were closed for several hours after the crash.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
