An Evansville man is facing charges for stealing tools from Hope Depot, officers say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man is facing more than a dozen charges after officers say he stole numerous items from Hope Depot.

On October 30, around 5:30 p.m., Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Home Depot on Pearl Drive for a theft report.

A loss prevention officer told authorities they wanted to ban Ronnie D. White II and two other men from the store.

An investigation led officers to surveillance video that allegedly showed White and another man trying to leave the store with a cart full of power tools.

Officers say in the video that one of the suspects abandons the cart and leaves the store after being confronted by the loss prevention officer.

During an interview with authorities, one of the suspects told officers that White was involved in six other thefts from the same Home Deport.

A few days later, officers took White into custody and questioned him about the thefts.

Officers say White identified himself and the other suspect in the photos from the surveillance video.

According to an affidavit, White told investigators he sells the tools he stole at a discounted price on Facebook Marketplace and to people he “came across.”

Ronnie Delmonte White II, 30, was arrested Saturday and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.

He faces seven charges of organized theft and seven charges of theft – prior unrelated conviction.
