LPSO seeks help finding third suspect after 11-year-old girl shot in crossfire

LIVINGSTON – An 11-year-old girl is recovering in the hospital after being shot over the weekend, caught in the crossfire.

Tai’lynn Hines was shot at approximately 8:30 p.m. on May 11, 2024 on Ed Brown Rd. in Tickfaw in Livingston Parish. UKK learned that at least three people were shooting when Hines was caught in the crossfire and struck by a bullet.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two brothers in connection with the Hines shooting and deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a third suspect, a 17-year-old.

Brothers K’shune McGee, 23, and David McGee, 19, were arrested on May 13. Both are charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and unlawful use of weapons. K’shune is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

LPSO deputies are now searching for Ja’-den James, 17, of Tickfaw, in connection with the shooting. Sources say UKK the shooting involved all three men, with the 11-year-old girl caught between the men who allegedly fired their weapons. James is wanted on three counts of attempted first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Meanwhile, Tai’lynn Hines, a shot 11-year-old girl, continues to improve but the family needs financial help. She remains in the hospital and her mother has to take care of her and her other children.
