Children injured in incident at Jenny Wiley Festival

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) – Five children were taken to the hospital after an incident at the Jenny Wiley Festival Wednesday night.

In a social media post, Prestonsburg Mayor Rick Hughes said a ramp broke at the carnival and injured at least five children.

He said first responders quickly assessed the situation and those involved were taken to ARH Highlands Regional Medical Center to be checked out.

He said his wife, a counselor at Prestonsburg High School, contacted the principal and spoke with parents.

“Our wonderful city is so lucky to have such great men and women doing all these jobs,” he shared.

Hughes told WYMT he believes all of the children are safe.
