Israel carries out a deadly attack on southern Lebanon

The Israeli parliament last Monday banned UNRWA – the main aid agency in Gaza – from operating in Israel and East Jerusalem, despite objections from the international community.

If the ban is implemented, experts say it would be a blow to humanitarian work in Gaza.

The ban came after the United States warned Israel on October 15 that it could withhold some of its billions of dollars in military aid unless it improves aid to Gaza within 30 days.

Also in Deir el-Balah, relatives from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital mourned on Sunday the bodies of a father and son killed in the Israeli bombardment.

Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7 resulted in 1,206 deaths, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally of Israeli official figures.

Israel’s military response against Hamas has killed 43,314 people in Gaza, the majority of them civilians, according to figures from the Hamas-run Health Ministry that the United Nations considers reliable.

During their attack, Palestinian militants seized 251 hostages, 97 of whom are still in Gaza. The Israeli army says 34 of them are dead.
