A Chase contestant impressed Chaser Shaun Wallace in the latest episode of the ITV game show. Liverpool’s Tom was one of four players who faced the Dark Destroyer alongside Linda, Felix and Jessica.

Tom, a computer programmer from Liverpool, was the first contestant to take on the Chaser and impressed in his money-making round. Answering all the questions asked correctly, Tom pocketed £10,000 to go head to head.

Presenter Bradley Walsh praised, telling Tom: “That’s incredible, you’ve done fantastically. We don’t usually get five figures, but £10,000” before his fellow contestants applauded him.

Shaun offered Tom a respectable £3,000 as a lower offer and told him “you’re probably one of the best players I’ve played against in my 14 years on The Chase, try this on for size”, offering an impressive £60,000 as the highest bidder. Tom bravely opted for the highest offer after conversations with his teammates.

After an exciting battle between the two, Tom was caught with just one question left. Shaun praised the performance saying: “It was a superb effort. I’m telling you, I think you’re the best player I’ve ever met.”

Tom replied, “I’ll take that as a huge compliment, thanks. You’ve got to go ahead, haven’t you?” he added that he has “no regrets”. Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise Tom.

One fan posted: “”Disgust! Unlucky. That’s depressing for a Monday. Damn #thechase.” Another added their frustration, saying, “I’m so disappointed. I wish Tom would pass and everyone else would duck so Twitter/X would erupt in a tantrum. #TheChase.” An additional comment read “@TheShaunWallace did himself a huge favor by knocking out Tom #thechase. Difficult break for the team.”
