Wynn poker room moves to PokerAtlas

Wynn Las Vegas has replaced Bravo Live poker room apps with Poker Atlas. Both apps provide both live and static information about card rooms, such as phone numbers, tournament times, number of tables available, number of players currently playing, and allow players to register on waiting lists before entering the casino.

Bravo Poker Live is the official app of the World Series of Poker, and the WSOP encourages its players to register for events through the app and at kiosks in Paris and Horseshoe, although the app has only gotten two stars on the Google Play Store. PokerAtlas has a rating of 4.6, probably because it provides other services such as live tournament chip counting.

Wynn becomes the fourth Las Vegas casino to make the change, joining Westgate, Sahara and Resorts World.

Last days of the Mirage

After 34 years, the Las Vegas Mirage will cease to exist. On July 17, the iconic casino will close its doors for good and undergo a three-year renovation that will transform the property into a Hard Rock Las Vegas. The project will transform the Strip by adding a 700-foot-tall hotel tower shaped like a guitar.

In the early 1990s, the Mirage Talking Room, run by Eric Drache, inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2012, was the ideal place to play poker in Las Vegas. Chip Reese, Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harman, Ralph Perry, Mike Matusow, Eli Elezra, Howard Lederer, David Grey, John Hennigan, Steve Zolotow and Mori Eskandani played there in the city’s biggest games.

Although the big matches moved to the Bellagio when it opened in 1998, the venue remained open for another 22 years.

Detailed plans for Hard Rock Las Vegas haven’t been released yet, but considering how Florida’s Seminole Tribe approaches poker at their Casios (hint: they run some of the best rooms in the country), then its Las Vegas poker room will be one of the best on the Strip.

The East Coast Poker Championship starts tomorrow

The East Coast Poker Championship at Turning Stone Casino in upstate New York begins tomorrow (May 17), the first of two tournament days, while three $110 satellites to the no-limit main event hold’em takes place today.

Tyler Dietz took home $189,600 for winning last year’s championship which attracted 474 entries.
