The 100,000 mile offer for the American Airlines premium card is back

Frequent miler reports a 100,000-mile bonus offer for the Citi AAdvantage Executive Card, the $595 annual fee card that comes with access to the American Airlines Admirals Club. Offer requires $10,000 in purchases in first 3 months.

  • This is not a good card for spending. 4x on American Airlines purchases (5x after spending $150,000 on the card in a calendar year); 1x on everything else, although you earn 10x at aa.com/cars and aa.com/hotels
  • But it’s good for gaining status. Just have the card means that when you each reach 50,000 and 90,000 loyalty points in a year in your account, you get 10,000 bonus loyalty points.
  • American Airlines Benefits. Most people who get this card will have some sort of status, but it’s worth noting the first checked bag benefit (on American Airlines domestic routes for the primary cardholder and up to 8 other passengers on the same PNR); priority check-in, screening and boarding; 25% savings on inflight food and drink purchases on American when you pay with the card.
  • Blankets. They added trip cancellation and delay as well as lost baggage protection. You need it if you travel to America.
  • Admirals Club The card comes with membership for the primary cardholder and access for authorized users (which now incurs additional fees).
  • Additional benefits. $120 in statement credits per calendar year for Avis and Budget car rentals; $10 credit per billing cycle with GrubHub; $10 monthly Lyft credit after completing 3 Lyft rides in the calendar month; Credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees every 4 years.

You get this card for the bonus and it’s worth it, you get a membership in the Admirals Club and you get bonus loyalty points if you earn enough loyalty points in the AAdvantage program (you don’t have need to spend on this card to earn them). It’s probably worth charging an Avis rental with the card. And then you can keep it if you want to keep Admirals Club and the loyalty points bonuses. But it’s really not a card for spending in general.
