KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A truck driver suffered life-threatening injuries after his cab overturned on I-670 in Kansas City while trying to avoid a wrong-way driver.

The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that just after 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​I-670 westbound and 7th St. in Kansas City with reports of a rollover collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they discovered James C. Grimes, 50, of Smithville, Missouri, was driving his 2021 International semi-truck without a trailer westbound on the highway when he attempted to avoid an unknown driver going the wrong way. went up.

Investigators noted that the semi turned off the highway to the right and struck the barrier wall, causing the cab to overturn. Grimes, who was wearing a seat belt at the time, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital University of Kansas Medical Center for treatment.
