Ohio teen catches monster-sized 101-pound blue catfish

A 15-year-old girl from Ohio just caught a blue catfish that could break a state record. Jaylynn Parker, a 15-year-old from New Richmond, Ohio, has been fishing with her father since she was young. She was fishing in New Richmond, Ohio. Richmond with her father, Chuck Parker, and close family friend, Jeff Sams, when she caught the 101-pound blue catfish. Parker is awaiting official confirmation from the state, but this is the largest wild blue catfish caught in Ohio so far. Parker said that in recent years they have started sailing the Ohio River when it is in flood and have had success catching that way. “Little did I know I would have the chance to catch the fish of a lifetime, up to 101 pounds,” Parker said. She said her father and a family friend helped her catch the fish. “Obviously I needed help with the fish since I only weigh 117 pounds, without Jeff and my dad it wouldn’t have been possible,” she said. She’s proud of her catches but doesn’t stop there. “I’m excited to see where my fishing adventures take me and hope to catch a bigger one soon,” Parker said.
