ALMONT — The Almont Area Chamber of Commerce has selected the recipient of its 2024 scholarship.

On Wednesday, the Chamber announced that Almont High School (AHS) senior Cameron Bourdeau was selected to receive the Almont Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, which is awarded to AHS students who plan to continue their studies in a business-related field.

Bourdeau is the son of Marty and Gynnae Bourdeau and lives in Dryden. Throughout high school, Bourdeau maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.0717 and ranked eighth in the Class of 2024. He was named Student of the Month at Almont High School and received the Girls’ Good Citizen Award of the American Revolution (DAR) awarded by the high school. staff.

For Bourdeau’s academic achievements, he was selected for the BWAC Academic All-Conference Team. During his junior and senior years, he was a member of the Almont High School math team. He was a member of the Almont marching band and concert band all four years of high school, where he plays saxophone.

Bourdeau is actively involved in his church, Saint John Fisher Parish in Rochester, participating in various discussions held there for the Catholic faith and pro-life organizations. He also played basketball and golf throughout high school. During his junior and senior years, Bourdeau was captain of Almont’s varsity basketball team and was named to the BWAC All-Defensive Team each year.

Bourdeau was also a four-year varsity golfer and three-year captain. He was the BWAC Most Valuable Golfer during his sophomore and junior years and was voted honorable mention all-state as a junior.

Bourdeau said the most influential person in his life is his father: “He taught me the true value of hard work and he inspires me every day with how hard he works to provide for me and those of my family and by the love he shows us. »

In the fall, Bourdeau plans to attend Northwood University in Midland to major in sales management and play on the Northwood golf team.

The Almont Chamber thanks the Four County Community Foundation, Kelly Eble and Dena Norrod of the Almont High School Advising Office for their hard work on the scholarships as well as everyone who applied. The Chamber has sponsored a scholarship for many years with assistance from the Four County Community Foundation and Almont High School.
