Two Delhi traffic police personnel were injured in an accident after they tried to stop a car for skipping its signal while they were on duty in southwest Delhi’s Kishangarh area.

According to police, the incident took place at Ber Sarai traffic light near Vedant Deshika Marg on Saturday evening around 7.45 pm. “On Saturday, a PCR call was received at Kishan Garh police station stating that an unknown vehicle had hit traffic constables on duty and fled the scene,” said Surendra Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest).

He said that in the meantime, a team was immediately sent to the spot and found that the two injured staff members had been rushed to Safdarjung Hospital by a PCR van. The team reached the hospital and found that Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod and Head Constable Sailesh Chouhan were in a conscious and stable condition.

According to their statements, they were conducting routine challans for traffic violations when a vehicle jumped a red light around 7.45 pm. “After this, a statement of ASI Pramod was recorded in which he claimed that he along with HC Sailesh (Vasant Vihar Traffic Circle) was carrying out a mobile persecution on Vedant Deshika Marg (Ber Sarai Market Road) on Saturday and around 7.45 pm, a car without DL- 9C- BC-7528 jumped the red light and came towards them,” the DCP said.

When HC Sailesh signaled the car to stop, the driver initially compiled. However, when the officer asked the driver to come out of the car, the driver tried to run away from the spot and dragged them on the car for about 20 meters and later hit them and ran away from the spot.

“They both suffered minor injuries in the accident. A crime and forensic team inspected the area where the incident took place,” said another police officer, adding that according to the officers’ statement, the alleged motorist had caused obstruction in the area. military service and had further attempted to kill the said police officials by dragging them for more than 20 meters in his car.

“A case has been registered involving attempt to murder and obstruction of discharge of official duties and charges of endangering the lives of public,” the officer said.

An FIR was registered on Sunday under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 221 (obstruction of public servant in discharge of public functions), 132 (assault or criminal force to defraud public servant). refrain from discharging his duty), 121(1) (voluntarily causing pain or serious harm to deter a public servant from his duty), and 3(5) (joint liability).

“An investigation is underway into the offending vehicle and the suspect. The offending vehicle is found registered in the name of Jai Bhagwan, resident of Vasant Kunj. Further investigation will follow,” the officer said.
