In short: Man shot dead by brother-in-law

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by his brother-in-law after a business dispute in northeast Delhi on Sunday, police said. The victim was identified as Hemant, they said. According to police, they received a PCR call about a firing incident around 6.20 pm and rushed to the spot at First Pusta, Sonia Vihar. They found that Bantu’s sisters, Rekha and Chandni, had come to visit him at Bhai Dooj with their husbands, Ajay and Hemant respectively, a senior police officer said. Both Ajay and Hemant are into garland making, he said. During the festivities, a heated argument broke out between Ajay and Hemant regarding their businesses. Ajay shot Hemant and fled, the officer said.

Lawyers from Delhi went on strike today

A committee of law associations in Delhi decided to go on strike on Monday to protest the alleged attack on lawyers in a courtroom in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Lawyers and baton-wielding police personnel clashed in a Ghaziabad courtroom on October 29 after the judge called in the force to remove a group of protesting lawyers who raised slogans against him over a disagreement. Campaign to save Yamuna

A social organization on Sunday launched a year-long campaign to clean and rejuvenate the Yamuna river in Delhi-NCR and Braj region. The ‘Bhikshatan Mahayajna’ campaign was launched on the occasion of Bhai Dooj by Ravi Shankar Tiwari, the organizer of Yamuna Sansad. The campaign was inaugurated near Chhath ghat at ITO and was attended by community representatives and school children.
