One dead and five rescued from a capsized boat off Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH, California. – One person is dead and five others were rescued from a capsized boat off Redondo Beach on Sunday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Authorities received a report of an overturned vessel on Avenue C, about two miles offshore, just before 1:30 p.m.

LA County FD and Redondo Harbor Patrol rescue craft responded to the scene and located the boat. Five people were rescued from the water, but one person is still missing, officials said.

Crews continue to search in and around the ship for the missing person.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
