Latest US elections: Trump attacks ‘idiot’ Obama after the former president made fun of his dancing | US News

That’s all for our live coverage of the US elections tonight, but we’ll be back with more updates and analysis later.

If you’re just checking in, here’s a recap of today’s key developments.

Early voting has opened in the key state of Wisconsin, where Donald Trump lost by just under 21,000 votes in 2020.

The Harris campaign is concerned that cracks exist in the “blue wall” states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, which paved the way to the White House for the last two Democratic presidents (more here).

The former president began the day meeting with Latino voters in Doral, Florida, discussing a wide range of topics — from immigration and energy, to his rival being “lazy as hell” (more here).

A joint event with Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who supported him for the presidency, was canceled for reasons that were not publicly disclosed.

But he spoke later that day at a rally in North Carolina, at which he said Kamala Harris “has no right” to run for president (more here).

He also attacked Barack Obama, describing his predecessor as “a real idiot” (more here – and watch the moment below).

The Trump campaign also filed a formal complaint with the US watchdog against the UK Labor Party, alleging election interference and illegal foreign campaign contributions to help Harris’ campaign (more here).

Kamala Harris

The vice president was not on the campaign trail today (presumably preparing for a CNN town hall event tomorrow), but she gave an interview to our US partner network NBC News.

Speaking to NBC’s senior Washington correspondent Hallie Jackson from the Naval Observatory, the vice president’s official residence, Harris said Donald Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election and said she has a team ready to respond if he tries again. (more here).

Harris also said that America is ready for a black president (more from NBC here).

It has also been confirmed that rock legend Bruce Springsteen will appear at two Harris-Walz campaign rallies in the coming days (more here).

Barack Obama

The former president was a very visible presence in the election campaign today, appearing at two large rallies.

In the first, in Wisconsin, alongside vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, he said he had already voted by mail and appealed to Americans to vote as quickly as possible, as the election will be “close across the country” (more here).

He took many jabs at Donald Trump, including for “hocking (selling) goods” like bibles made in China while running for president (more here).

He also mocked his successor’s dancing at city hall, saying it looked like “a hostage video” (more here).

Obama was then introduced at a rally in Michigan by Grammy-winning artist Eminem, and sang a verse from his hit ‘Lose Yourself’ (more here – and watch the moment below).

Joe Biden

The sitting president made a rare appearance on the campaign trail today, highlighting the Republican endorsement of Kamala Harris (more here).

And he said Democrats should “arrest him” in reference to Trump, but then stopped himself and added: “arrest him politically” (more here).

Tim Walz

The Democratic vice-presidential candidate spoke at two rallies in Wisconsin – one of them alongside Barack Obama.

He attacked Donald Trump, joking that McDonald’s clown, Ronald McDonald, wears less makeup than the former president (more here).

US intelligence agencies have said that Russian actors are responsible for circulating and amplifying a false video alleging sexual misconduct by Mr. Walz (more here).

JD Vance

Donald Trump’s running mate was on the road meeting voters in Arizona.

He has spoken at events in Peoria and Tucson.
