Hallie Jackson asks Kamala Harris twice if she would pardon Trump

MSNBC anchor and NBC News senior Washington correspondent Hallie Jackson asked Vice President repeatedly Kamala Harris whether she would consider pardoning the former president Donald Trump if he is found guilty – the vice president’s face said as much or more than her verbal responses.

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced for the 34 crimes he was found guilty of Stormy Daniels He has to settle for a hush-money case for election interference, but still faces dozens of criminal charges in the confidential documents case, the dismissal of which is being appealed, the Jan. 6 case and the now-suspended Fulton County election crimes case.

Vice President Harris conducted a one-on-one interview with Jackson on Tuesday night’s edition NBC Nightly Newsin which Harris tried to deflect the pardon question by opposing “hypotheses” — and then shot the question a second time with a little more vigor:

JACKSON: If you win, it’s entirely possible that the federal lawsuits against the former president will continue. He is, of course, accused of these crimes. Would you consider pardoning former President Trump if you win and he is convicted?

HARRIS: I’m not going to get into those hypotheses. I’m focused on the next 14 days.

JACKSON: But do you think there’s a part of you that buys into the argument that’s been made in the past that a pardon could help bring America together, help you unite the country and get them to move on ?

HARRIS: Let me tell you what will help us. I am elected President of the United States.

JACKSON: One of the things you’ve talked about is having a Republican in your camp – possibly in your Cabinet.

HARRIS: Yes.

JACKSON: You spent a lot of time on the campaign trail with former Congresswoman Liz Cheney. As you mentioned, is she someone who would consider coming into Cabinet? Have you spoken to her about this topic?

HARRIS: I’ll keep you updated.
