Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour inspires Liverpool to become ‘Taylor Town’

Goodbye, Liverpool. Ahead of Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour shows, the English town is now known as “Taylor Town.”

City are currently unveiling a temporary makeover to prepare for the pop star’s three performances scheduled for June 13-15 at Anfield Stadium, starting with the bespoke – or should we say, Tay – name change. lored. Additionally, local creatives are designing 11 individual art installations inspired by each of Swift’s studio albums to form a “Taylor Town Trail,” including a moss-covered grand piano representing Alwaysa “red room” encapsulating Red and one Intrepid mural based on the singer’s lucky number, 13.

“One of the biggest stars on the planet comes to the birthplace of pop,” reads the Liverpool City Council website. “And to mark this musical moment for the ages, plans are in place to welcome Swifties in style.”

The city is also planning a series of paid craft workshops – aka Liverpool Loves Taylor (Craft Version) – where fans can make origami pieces which will be added to one of 11 main art installations. Participants will also be able to work on homemade Swif T-shirts, collages and cupcakes inspired by the “Anti-Hero” singer.

The University of Liverpool is also getting involved by hosting a free “Tay Day” symposium for academics, students and fans to “experience the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift”, according to the city council notice. “The event will include critical karaoke sessions, during which researchers will present their findings on some of Taylor’s biggest hits and a series of interactive lectures on topics including her song lyrics, her award-winning albums and her place in feminism and the LGBTQ+ community.”

Liverpool is just the latest venue on the Eras Tour to go all out ahead of Swift’s arrival. For example, Glendale, Arizona, temporarily changed its name to “Swift City” in place of the 14-time Grammy winner’s spring 2023 kickoff show, while Rio de Janeiro projected the image of a t Taylor-themed t-shirt on her site. iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer in November.
