Two charged after fight | News, sports, jobs

Lannette Kae Garms, 51, of 286 Hill St., Jersey Shore, has been charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment after causing a scene on Aug. 31 at The American Legion, 320 Seminary St., Jersey Shore, Lycoming The regional police stated this in an affidavit.

Garms was dispatched to a fight in progress and was described as a man pushing several people and yelling and screaming, authorities said.

The incident began as a verbal altercation between Garms and another person before turning physical when the establishment’s manager told him to leave, after which she allegedly punched the manager and pulled her hair, witnesses told police.

According to court documents, Garms was heavily intoxicated and allegedly became combative and argumentative with the responding officers, pressuring and attempting to punch them.

She was arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $2,500 bail.

Also charged in the incident is John Charles Stewart, 34, of 324 Clinton St., Avis, who allegedly punched a person in the face repeatedly with a closed fist as he tried to break up the fight, continuing the attack once the person had fallen to the ground. land, according to court documents.

Another witness who tried to intervene was bitten by Stewart, an affidavit said.

Stewart was arraigned by Dieter on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $25,000 bail.

Additionally, Garms faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license in a separate incident after police allegedly observed her driving a 2013 Dodge Ram registered to another person on Oct. 16.

Due to alleged drug activity involving the two, police requested and received permission to search the vehicle, during which a glass methamphetamine pipe was discovered, an affidavit said.

Garms was sued by Dieter on the new charges.
