We’re just a few months away from the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, and Capcom is gearing up for the release of its latest creature adventure with an open beta for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC set to launch in November. in the UK – unless you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber; in that case, you can start earlier.

To be more specific, the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta begins for all platforms on October 31st at 8pm PT or, if you live in the UK, on ​​November 1st at 3am GMT. Things wrap up at 6:59pm PT on November 3rd, which equates to 2:59am BST on November 4th.

Capcom notes that an Xbox Game Pass Core/Ultimate subscription will not be required to play on Series X/S, and a PlayStation Plus subscription will not be required to engage on PlayStation 5. However, if you they are As a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ll be able to access the open beta early, starting on October 28th at 8pm PT or 3am on October 29th in the UK.

Regardless of how you decide to get involved, the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will feature three distinct parts. There’s a character creator that includes all the options from the full game, with open beta players able to redesign their Hunter and Palico as much as they want, then transfer the designs to the full game on launch day next year.

Additionally, the open beta includes a story test, featuring the Monster Hunter Wilds opening cutscene and Catacabra hunt (along with some basic tutorials), as well as a separate Doshaguma Hunt, challenging Hunters to defeat the alpha of a Doshaguma package. Capcom notes that an SOS beacon can be used in any mission to play with other players in online multiplayer, and it’s also possible to fight alongside three NPC support hunters. Palicoes always enter combat, regardless of the number of other players involved.

Other open beta features include full cross-play support, with players able to register friends across multiple platforms – although Capcom notes that this list will not carry over to the full version of Monster Hunter Wilds. Additionally, open beta participants can explore a “limited” version of the Windward Plains region and will receive a special downloadable pendant in the full game that can be used to decorate any weapon or Seikret.

The full release of Monster Hunter Wilds will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam on Friday, February 28th and will be available in three flavors. There is a standard edition with the base game, a Deluxe edition, and a Premium Deluxe edition. The deluxe version includes the base game and a Deluxe Pack with Hunter layered armor, Palico layered armor, emotes, hairstyles, makeup and face paint, sticker sets, Seikret decorations, and a Hunter profile.

The Premium Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, also includes access to three DLC cosmetic sets – featuring layered armor and pendants – planned for release in Spring 2025, Summer 2025 and beyond. Additionally, anyone who pre-orders before launch will receive the Guild Knight layered armor set and Hope Charm talisman, and there is an exclusive Monster Hunter Wilds mini digital art book for pre-orders placed through PlayStation Store.

To go along with today’s open beta conversation, Capcom also shared a new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer showcasing a new location known as Oilwell Basin. In this desolate wasteland, players can encounter new monsters, including the brute wyvern Rompopolo, found in areas of deep oil sludge, and the ape-like “red-hot fanged beast”, Ajarakan, which is highly active during the Spring of Fire. There’s also a tease of a mysterious monster known as Black Flame, which we’ll no doubt see more of before Monster Hunter Wilds releases next year.
