Faculty of Law announces 2024 scholarship winners

The University of Alberta Faculty of Law announces the class of 2024 Graduation Awards recipients. The awards recognize academic excellence, peer-voted awards and pro bono service.

The School of Law awards three prestigious awards based on overall class ranking. Samantha Doss received the Academic Excellence Award for graduating first in her class. Brett Callaway, the second-ranked student in his class, received the High Academic Achievement Award. Alexandria Rook, who held the third-highest GPA in the Class of 2024, received the Academic Excellence Award.

“We are immensely proud of all our graduates, but reaching this high level is very special. Being recognized at the Centennial Graduation Ceremony is a distinctive honor for these graduates. It is noteworthy that women won two of our highest awards this year, which reflects the growth and evolution of the Law School since its founding 100 years ago,” said Dean Cynthia Nance. “Congratulations to Samantha, Brett and Lexie for their demonstrated scientific excellence.” The identities of the top three students in the class are confidential until announced at the school’s graduation ceremony.

The winners of the Graduations Awards 2024 were also rewarded during the ceremony. These awards are determined by a graduate’s final grade in specific courses, total as a volunteer hours of service, or be nominated by a faculty member. These include:
