Fortune Hotel winners offer to split prize money

Jo-Anne and Will won the Fortune Hotel but gave part of their prize money to Aysha and Samm.

The mother-son team had become the villains of the show in the eyes of many viewers after playing dirty throughout the match. But after reaching the final three of the ITV game show, they bared their souls to their fellow finalists and won their sympathy with emotional confessions, revealing that Jo-Anne had battled cancer after treating Will’s father on his deathbed.

During a tense nightcap at the Lady Luck bar, the three couples decided to stick to their own suitcases – and Jo-Anne and Will opened theirs to discover it contained £200,000.

What, how and why?

Jo-Anne broke down in tears when she found out she had won the cash prize. Will said: “There are no words to describe the emotion going through my body. I feel like I’ve been struck by lightning.” Jo-Anne said: “It will make a difference to my life, it won’t change me.” She joked to Will: “You can take a longer shower now. It’s life-changing.”

Friends Jae and Cherish revealed they managed to take £30,000 out of the deal during the game, as the rules state you can choose to cash out £10,000 if you end the day with the briefcase containing the ‘money. Aysha said: “After all the times we knew where the money was, we never had the chance to take it. »

Will told the married couple: “Aysha and Samm, we want to give you £5,000 of ours so you can do whatever you want with your children. You deserve it as much as the rest of us.” Jo-Anne added: “You can take our babies.”

At the start of the latest episode, Jo-Anne and Will revealed their difficult past, after losing Will’s father to motor neurone disease and Jo-Anne being diagnosed with cancer. Jo-Anne revealed that although she separated from Will’s father, she returned to care for him before he died. He was then diagnosed with cancer nine years ago, but was given a new medication which successfully helped him overcome the illness. She said through tears: “I’m so grateful to be here. I’d like to donate to the cancer hospital I went to. It’s truly a building full of angels, they’re the most beautiful people. extraordinary.”

Will, 19, broke down as he admitted he felt guilty about the way he behaved and treated his mother growing up. He sobbed, “Everything I’ve learned from life, whether it’s my father or my mother, it can all be taken away from you at any time, so just do what you have to do when you can.” I knew my father was going to die and I thought I wasn’t going to have my mother either. I made life difficult for him. I think it’s time I pay her back, make up for the time she wasted worrying about me. Now it’s time for me to worry about her and make sure she’s okay. All she did her whole life was make sure I was okay, even though I didn’t deserve it. It’s time for me to worry about her because all she is. never done is make sure I’m okay. Will told Jo-Anne: “I feel guilty all the time. I never told you but I’m sorry and I regret it. Doing this opened my eyes so much. Maybe sometimes I’m in the wrong one.”

All the contestants were in tears and Cherish admitted she regretted some of the things she said about Will and Jo-Anne “in the heat of the moment.”

After being declared the winners, Will said, “There is no bond like that of family, and that bond has favored us in so many ways. Would my father be proud? My dead man was a fighter and he would certainly be proud.

Cherish said: “I’m very happy for Will and Jo-Anne because they’re not building people like Jo-Anne anymore. She’s a fighter, she’s an inspirational person.” Samm said: “I’m happy, it’s amazing to see Jo-Anne and Will win. They deserved it.”

The ITV reality competition began with 10 couples competing for a £250.00 jackpot. Each night they had to exchange crates, 8 of which were empty, one containing the money and one containing an early departure card, thus sending the owner home. Jae and Cherish started the final day with the money, and Aysha and Samm knew they had it. But Jo-Anne and Will didn’t know which rival couple’s business the money was in.

In a final twist, the suitcases were locked and tagged and no one was allowed to look inside until the last nightcap at the Lady Luck bar. Jo-Anne and Will won the Room Service Challenge and were able to exchange name tags before the evening’s exchange, without seeing the inside of the suitcases. Thus, neither couple knew for sure which box contained the money. But Jo-Anne and Will had chosen to trade with Jae and Cherish, making them the winners.

What else happened at the Fortune Hotel?

The Fortune Hotel won against the Traitors in the final.

When the series launched on ITV earlier this month, some complained that it was a “cheap imitation” of the BBC show hosted by Claudia Winkleman, and there are parallels unconscious between game shows. The show was pre-recorded, but host Stephen Mangan must have expected the comparison.

In the tense finale, as the final three couples raced toward the finish line of the final task to give themselves the advantage in the final suitcase exchange, Mangan looked through a pair of binoculars and exclaimed: ” Oh my God ! that Claudia Winkleman super yacht?!”
