Meta and Google were recently spotted making proposals for AI licensing deals worth millions of dollars to Hollywood film and production studios.

Meta and Google are reaching out to film, production and Hollywood studios to strike a deal on licensing their content and data for training AI models in the future, according to Bloomberg.

This new test concerns “tens of millions of dollars”. Meta and Google have beckoned these companies in hopes of partnering with them to improve their AI technology.

There is still no official word from Google and Meta regarding these new offerings for studios and businesses, focused on their goals of improving their video generation via AI.

There are many concerns about AI infiltrating video editing and generation, with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes known to be among the largest strikes against the technology.

Hollywood content for training AI models?

The report claims that companies like Netflix and Disney have declined to use their content for AI training, but are not stopping possible collaborative work for other deals.

On the other hand, Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly considering these deals, but only for some of its content.

Google’s VEO, a text-to-video AI model, was recently unveiled. Meta is set to develop an AI-generated video, which would be the application of these licensing agreement offerings.

AI Content License for Training

Big companies’ artificial intelligence (AI) technology is a blank canvas, and they first started by massively collecting data from the Internet to train their generative AI models to give answers to every possible question.

However, some reports believe that internet data is running out for AI companies to train their models.

AI companies are facing a lot of scrutiny in the era of AI models, and this is because there are allegations regarding the use of data without license or consent for purposes training.

Various organizations and individuals have opposed this by launching massive lawsuits, and recently a global screenwriters guild has sought to suppress these events.

Lawsuits and reports of mass access to Internet data for copyrighted content have been growing for some time, but developments show that licensing deals are being made on all sides.

Meta and Google are among those pursuing content and data from Hollywood studios for training AI models with massive deals, but they have yet to make headway.
