Ghanaian media personality, Afia Pokua popularly known as Vim Lady has offered advice to Hopeson Adorye following her recent remarks following her release.

Adorye had previously boasted of the political impact achieved through his arrest and release, suggesting it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

In a Facebook live video session with his wife, Empress Gifty, the politician described his arrest as a blessing in disguise, demanding wide attention from around the world.

However, Vim Lady disagrees with his sentiments, citing potential negative implications for his family, particularly his wife, gospel musician Empress Gifty, and the country as a whole.

“Hopeson, please think next time about the security of the nation and even the emotional effect on your wife because of the political mileage you will get,” she urged.

Although some netizens encouraged Adorye’s bold statements during the live video, his wife called for restraint, advising him to let the situation rest.

“Don’t fire them, please. This situation is not easy. If you are not lucky enough to have a strong and godly partner by your side, the person may drop dead. They would not be able to handle it,” Empress Gifty expressed.

In response to Adorye’s intention to “fire” her critics, Vim Lady echoed Gifty’s plea, emphasizing the importance of heeding her wife’s advice.

“Listen to your wife,” she reiterated. “That’s why I thought the arrest was unnecessary despite the fact that his comment was extreme. The arrest increased Hopeson’s political capital to do even more damage.”

Background

Hopeson Adorye’s arrest follows allegations that he deployed explosives in the Volta region to intimidate supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2016 elections.

He claimed that this tactic contributed to the victory of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016. Adorye is accused of spreading false information and has been released on bail.

Now his challenge, Adorye said his arrest would not deter him, attributing it to his departure from the NPP.

He claimed that internal party elements were conspiring against him.
