Driver Caught Passing Stopped School Bus

(La Porte, IN) – A man was ticketed for allegedly passing a stopped school bus in La Porte.

John Harris, 28, was cited for reckless driving and ordered to appear in La Porte Superior Court 3 on June 7 to answer to the class B misdemeanor charge.

Police said an officer was following the bus after school Wednesday on I St.

The bus stopped and, with his stop arms extended, an oncoming Harris allegedly passed the bus in his 2012 GMC Sierra pickup truck.

Police said the officer quickly conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a summons to appear in court for the offense.

The La Porte man faces a prison sentence of up to six months and a fine of $1,000.
