PS Air Bar: Airline-themed speakeasy in Palm Springs

PS Air Bar: Airline-themed speakeasy in Palm Springs

I was in Palm Springs last week and a friend took me to an airline-themed “speakeasy” aptly called PS Air Bar. It’s a lot of fun and worth a visit if you’re in town.

You wouldn’t really know that there’s a bar in front of the store, which appears to just be a wine merchant called Bouschet.

But walk past the wine shop (which also has seating) and you’ll find “the plane” on the right.

Inside, you are in a single-aisle plane with “lounge seats” like we once saw on Southwest Airlines and still see on trains (three seats face each other). In fact, they appear to be old SOUthwest Airlnes seats, although the first row has old-style first class seats.

The menu resembles a pilot’s metal notebook that usually includes safety checklists (these days, however, pilots use iPads) and includes a wide range of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits… as well than food.

I ordered a Negroni while my friend an Aperol. We also ordered walnuts, which were spiced cashews served warmed.

The waiter was dressed like a pilot, wearing a white shirt with shoulder pads.

I loved the note next to the Moscow flight on the departure board…

a flight schedule on a black background

The toilets have been cleverly simulated to look like those in an airline, but quite spacious inside…

Overall a very pleasant experience.
