Spotify device allowing users to stream music through the audio system will stop working once shut down

(CNN) – A Spotify device that lets users stream music to their car’s audio system will stop working later this year.

On Thursday, the music streaming service announced it was dropping “Car Thing,” citing low product demand and supply chain issues.

The product allowed users who did not have an in-car infotainment system to stream music using the Spotify mobile app.

Spotify said the devices would stop working on December 9 and there were no plans to release a new version.
