MINSK, May 24 (Xinhua) — Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia is ready to continue negotiations with Ukraine, but only on the basis of previously reached agreements.

“Well, let’s let the (negotiations) resume, but not according to what one of the parties wants, but on the basis of the agreements reached during the negotiations in Belarus and Turkey and on the basis of the current situation on the ground” , Putin said at a press conference following his talks with his president. His Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, in Minsk.

The Istanbul agreements satisfied both the Ukrainian and Russian sides in 2022, Putin said, adding that Russia supports the resumption of negotiations with Ukraine.
