Crocodile spotted near Ingham, Queensland, shocking driver at night

A Queensland man heading home in the evening was shocked to come across a huge crocodile sitting in the middle of the road.

Justin Mills was driving home from work just north of Ingham in Far North Queensland when he spotted an unusual obstacle on the Bruce Highway on Tuesday evening.

“On my way home from work last night I found this speed bump on the highway at Seymour, north of Ingham, with traffic control just down the road,” Mr Mills said on Wednesday .

The 3.5 meter crocodile was crossing the highway in the middle of the night.

The reptile was illuminated by the car’s headlights as it crawled across the road.

Crocodile sightings have increased in Far North Queensland as flooding ravages the region.

In another sighting, a large crocodile was spotted near a suburban road in Far North Queensland over the weekend.

Images of the reptile, believed to be near the landfill and roadworks on Southern Access Road in Cairns, surfaced on social media on Sunday.

It comes as floodwaters rise in Far North Queensland, forcing residents from their homes and triggering relief efforts.
