American Airlines Tests New Technology That Would Suppress Boarding

Anyone standing in line, patiently waiting for their zone to be called at the airport boarding gate, has probably seen a scenario where someone tries to move forward and board the plane before their group is called.

Now, American Airlines has become the first airline to test a new technology that could help crack down on passengers trying to cut in line.

The technology would give gate agents an audible signal when someone tried to board early, prompting the passenger to step aside and wait for the correct group to be called.

“We are in the early phase of testing new technologies used during the boarding process designed to ensure customers receive priority boarding with ease and aid the boarding experience by providing greater visibility,” an airline representative told ABC News.

The technology is currently being tested at three US airports: Albuquerque International, Tucson International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The airline told ABC News that so far it is satisfied with the test results and technology.
