‘General Hospital’ actor Johnny Wactor dies while trying to stop a robbery in Los Angeles – NBC New York

“General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor was killed early Saturday while trying to stop a group of thieves from tampering with a car in downtown Los Angeles, his mother confirmed.

Wactor, who died aged 37, was shot dead while trying to stop a group of three men who were trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car. The shooting happened around 3 a.m. in downtown Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

One of the suspects shot the victim, then the trio fled. Police were dispatched to the scene around 3:15 a.m. Paramedics transported the shooting victim to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“I just don’t understand what a cowardly and senseless act this person has committed,” Scarlett Wactor, the victim’s mother, told NBC4 Los Angeles.

No description of the suspects was immediately available.

Wactor’s agent, David Shaul, said the actor was “a true moral example to all who knew him.”

“Through the ups and downs of a difficult profession, he always kept his head held high and continued to strive to give his best,” Shaul said in a statement Sunday. “Our time with Johnny was a privilege we wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will forever leave a hole in our hearts.

Catalytic converters are prime targets for thieves because they are rich in precious metals that can be resold.

Wactor played Brando Corbin in 164 episodes of the popular soap opera “General Hospital” between 2020 and 2022.

He has also appeared in other shows such as “Westworld” and “Criminal Minds.”
