Eamonn Holmes breaks silence on divorce

Eamonn Holmes has broken his silence following news of his upcoming divorce from Ruth Langsford after 14 years of marriage.

News of the shock split broke last week, with a spokesperson for the couple confirming their marriage was over and the couple were “divorcing”.

Eamonn was absent from GB News on Monday morning due to a UK public holiday, although the Northern Ireland native returned on Tuesday and offered thanks for his support.

“Before we continue, I would just like to thank people for your support of Ruth and I over the last few days regarding the news of our separation,” he said.

“Your support for both of us is much appreciated.”

Before speaking, Eamonn appeared to make a cryptic comment regarding a “wonderful” weekend.

“What a weekend it was,” he said.

“The FA Cup final, one of the greatest cup finals of all time, that got me there,” he said, pointing to his chest.

“It was emotional.”

While Eamonn returns to work with immediate effect, it is understood that Ruth will not present her duties on ITV’s Loose Women this week.

The former This Morning hosts, both 64, revealed they had split on Saturday after their work commitments “took their marriage in different directions”.

A rep said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed that their marriage is over and that they are divorcing.”

The couple married in 2010 after 13 years of dating, but despite their split, they are “determined to remain friends.”

The TV presenters are parents to Jack, 22, while Eamonn also has sons Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and daughter Rebecca, 33, from his previous marriage.
