Roy Keane nods to Celtic in ‘very unfair’ defense of Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham struggles

Roy Keane has defended Ange Postecoglou amid a difficult spell as Tottenham boss – after people “very unfairly” wrote off his CV.

The former Celtic manager has been criticized in recent weeks over Spurs’ results, with the London club losing their last four matches to remain fifth in the Premier League table. Their latest defeat – a 4-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield – led punters to criticize the manager’s shortcomings when it came to set-pieces and his attacking philosophy, but Keane reminded Postecoglou skeptics of the form team at the start of the season.

When the Australian arrived, Keane told Sky Sports how he remembered those who criticized his career at that point in the game and the “very unfair” view of his CV which included five trophies in two seasons at Parkhead .

“Rightly or wrongly, we’re thinking about the last three, four, five games,” Keane told Sky Sports. “When you think about his arrival at the start of the season, there were big challenges. He was new to the Premier League.

“There were question marks on him, on his CV I suppose, which was very unfair. He had a pretty decent season, but it’s just the last few games where they’ve fallen off, and you start to analyze the Spurs and the perception of the Spurs.

“There’s almost a certain softness about them and he has to change all that. Next summer, when he looks back, he will think there are positives in that, but moving to the next level, competing or reaching the Champions League, will be the most difficult step. Give this man a chance.
