A murder investigation is underway after the shooting in Pine Bluff left one dead

A homicide investigation was initiated by the Pine Bluff Police Department (PBPD) after receiving a report of a shooting Monday around 4:30 p.m.

Officers went to the Suzanne Apartments, located at 2123 South Blake Street.

After arriving on scene, they found an unconscious man on the ground on the north side of the apartment complex, according to PBPD. He was later identified as Taron Jerrel Dismuke, 22.

Dismuke was pronounced deceased by emergency medical personnel. The next of kin have been informed.

According to police, the suspect reported the incident around 6:30 p.m.

Leon Jermaine Jonson, 22, will be interviewed and taken to the WC Dub Brassell Detention Center and charged with first-degree murder pending further investigation.

“We understand the impact these types of incidents have on our community,” said Lt. DeShawn Bennett, Public Information Officer. “Our detectives are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and we are asking anyone with information about this case to come forward.”
