“Friends, you’ve probably already heard that there won’t be a Shadow and Bone season 3 or a Six of Crows spinoff,” she began. “The news has hit me hard. I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I am also trying to hold on to my very real gratitude.

“Most authors never see their work adapted. Many end up regretting the experience. I am one of the lucky few who can watch an adaptation with pride and immense joy.”

Bardugo said she was “very grateful to our writers, our crew and our amazing cast who are not only extremely talented, but also really good people”, while also sharing her gratitude to the fans.

“We’re book lovers and that means we never stop imagining that magic can become real. You’re proof. Now I’m going to cry, and maybe have a drink, and then see where the story takes us next.
