Former trader sues Lloyds for unfair dismissal after Libor investigation

LONDON (Reuters) – A former Lloyds Banking Group trader, who was among eight people fired after the bank’s settlement over alleged manipulation of Libor interest rates, is suing the bank for unfair dismissal, according to a court document. John Argent’s hearing will begin on October 5, according to the London employment tribunal schedule published on Wednesday. Lloyds said in September 2014 it had sacked eight employees following an investigation into benchmark interest rate submissions, after being fined earlier in the year by US and UK regulators. Argent was one of those people, a person familiar with the matter said. Reuters could not immediately contact Argent. (Reporting by Steve Slater; editing by Alexander Smith)
